BALI (Aug 24): Tenaga Nasional Bhd

(TNB) plans to deploy an additional

RM35 billion between 2025 to 2030 towards upgrading Malaysia's power grid, to

ensure the infrastructure does not become

an obstacle in the nation's energy transition

(ET) endeavours.

During a session at the ASEAN Energy

Business Forum (AEBF) 2023 on Thursday

(Aug 24),TNB president and chief executive

oificer Datuk Baharin Din said this is on top

of the national utility giant's RM54 billion

non-ET investment allocation for the grid

over the same five-year period.

This means that TNB plans to invest a

total of RM90 billion into Malaysia's grid

in the coming five-year period.This is nearly double the RM46 billion the group allocated for 2018-2024, Baharin highlighted,

which comprises RM40 billion for non-ET

and RM6 billion for ET.

Elaborating on the rationale behind

TNB's move to ramp up investment in

the nation's power infrastructure, Baharin cited the grid-related issues developed

markets faced when they embarked on

their respective RE journeys, a problem

the utility group hopes to avoid.

"Taking cues from more mature markets, we see that the grid is potentially becoming a bottleneck that is delaying the

scale-up of renewables.

"This can also be observed across the

UK, and even the US and others as each

country's connection queues for wind and

solar projects [to be plugged into their

grids] ranges between a staggering 50GW

(gigawatts) and 200GW," Baharin said.

"Therefore, for Malaysia, we want to

make sure that we build this grid infrastructure early so that it will not become a bottleneck in the adoption of more RE," he added.

Out of these three JT Group, Mn Holding & Transgrid Ventures (Only Transgrid Ventures Captured the Bulk of the Heavy Weight Projects

Jt Group is light weight while Mn Holding is medium weight

1. INTRODUCTION

“PROPOSED 275KV UNDERGROUND CABLE DOUBLE CIRCUIT FOR DATA CENTRE

LOCATED AT SOUTHERN REGION OF MALAYSIA” (“Contract”) (“Works”).

JTHSB and WESB shall be collectively referred to as “the Parties”, and individually as

“the Party”.

2. SALIENT TERMS OF THE CONTRACT

2.1 Contract Sum

The contract sum for the Works shall be the amount of RM22,060,894.00 (Ringgit

Malaysia Twenty-Two Million Sixty Thousand Eight Hundred and Ninety Four) only

based on fixed contract rate basis (subject to re-measurement), excluding Sales and

Service Tax.

2.2 The nature and scope of the Contract

The nature of the Contract is to lay 275kV underground cable double circuit for a data

centre.

The scope of works would include the erection of power cables, fibre optic cables,

joint and termination works together with all ancillary works.

More than 420^[4] transmission substations in the Peninsular Malaysia, with a total installed capacity of 105,305 MVA, are linked together by approximately 21,000 circuit-kilometers^[5] of overhead lines and underground cables operating at 132, 275 and 500 kilovolts (kV). The 500 kV transmission system is the single largest transmission system to be ever developed in Malaysia. Begun in 1994, Phase 1 involved the design and construction of the 500kV overhead lines from Gurun, Kedah in the North along the west coast to Kapar, in the central region and from Pasir Gudang to Yong Peng in the south of Peninsular Malaysia.

The total distance covered for the 500 kV transmission lines is 784 circuit-km and the 275 kV portion is 9,257 circuit-km as of February 2017. To cater for the new plant up of generators, namely 3,100 MW Janamanjung Power Plant in the west coast, 372 MW Ulu Jelai Hydro Electric Power Plant in the east coast, and 4,100 MW Tanjung Bin Power Plant in the south, the 500 kV transmission system was extended from Bukit Tarek to Yong Peng via interconnection allows for electricity of Ayer Tawar, Tapah, Bentong South and Lenggeng. The completion of this interconnection allows for electricity transmission to the load centre, which is located in the Klang Valley area of Peninsular Malaysia.

A project involving laying a 730 km high-voltage direct current transmission line and a 670 km undersea cable for the 2,400-megawatt Bakun hydroelectric dam was considered.^[6] This would have connected all three of Malaysia's electric utility companies with state grids: Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) and Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB). Many of Sabah and Sarawak's generation plants are still not interconnected to a grid.

Suppose Transgrid can get 40% out of Rm35 Billions it will be Rm14 Billions

And we expect 10% Net Profit which is Rm1.4 Billions

Divides by 5 year will be a Rm280 Millions Profit per year

Since Hexcap owns 49%

So Rm280 Millions X .49

= Rm137,200,000

How much per share profit

= 31 sen

Since Hexcap is 31 sen that means 100% profit per year for next 5 years
